The project started as a response to the site’s proximity to the dock edge by opening up large views towards the water and bringing soft North sunlight into the exhibits. The triangular opening reflected on the water created the imagery of an hourglass, which inspired the museum’s theme.
Concept Diagrams
The museum was envisioned to be a timeless. The design echoes London's Classical style, abstracted into pure geometrical forms that can be universally understood. It evokes a structure that is ancient, yet contemporary.
